Keep Every Booking in Sync with Google Calendar

The fastest way to double-book yourself is to keep two calendars that don't talk to each other — your bookings in one place and your real life in another. RentABot's Google Calendar sync removes that gap. Every booking shows up on your Google Calendar, and anything you change there flows back to RentABot on its own. One calendar, always right. Here's how it works and how to turn it on.

What "two-way sync" actually means

Most tools only push bookings one way, into your calendar. RentABot goes both directions:

  • Bookings in → When a client books, it appears on your Google Calendar as an event, with its status shown by colour. When the booking's status changes, the event updates automatically.
  • Changes back out → If you move an event in Google, the booking is rescheduled in RentABot. If you delete it, the booking is canceled. Either way, the client is notified — you don't have to message them separately.
  • Your own events block time → Appointments and personal events already on your Google Calendar block those slots in RentABot, so clients can't book over your lunch, your dentist, or a meeting.

The result: your Google Calendar becomes the single source of truth, and RentABot keeps itself in step with it.

How to connect it

It takes about a minute and it's free on every plan:

  1. In RentABot, open Settings and find the Google Calendar section.
  2. Click Connect Google Calendar.
  3. Sign in with Google and grant calendar access.

That's it — you're synced. New bookings start appearing on your calendar right away, and your existing events begin blocking those times for clients.

A quick note on permissions

When Google asks what to allow, grant the calendar access it requests. RentABot needs to both read your calendar (to see when you're busy and block those times) and write to it (to add and update booking events). If you only grant partial access, the "block my existing events" part can't work — so allow the full calendar permission when prompted.

Try it in 30 seconds

Once connected, make a test booking (through your bot, or add one manually) and watch it appear on your Google Calendar. Then drag that event to a new time in Google — within moments the booking is rescheduled in RentABot and the client would get the update. Delete the event, and the booking cancels. Remove your test booking when you're done.

Why it matters day to day

You stop copying appointments between places. You stop getting booked during times you're not actually free. And when something changes — a client reschedules, you block a morning off — it only has to be changed once, and everyone stays informed. That's the whole point: less admin, no double-bookings, one calendar you can trust.
