How to Take Bookings on Facebook Messenger (Set Up a Messenger Booking Bot)

If you have a Facebook Page, people are probably already messaging it — "are you open Saturday?", "how much for a cut?", "can I come in at 3?". Right now you answer those by hand. Connect Messenger to RentABot and those same chats turn into real bookings, with the time held in your calendar and a confirmation sent back automatically. Here's how to set it up.

What you'll need

  • A Facebook Page for your business (not just a personal profile)
  • Admin access to that Page
  • A RentABot account (a free 14-day trial is enough)
  • About 5 minutes

The easy way: connect in one click

Messenger is one of RentABot's Meta channels, so you don't have to build a bot or copy tokens around. In RentABot:

  1. Open Channels and find the Facebook Messenger card.
  2. Click Log in with Facebook.
  3. Grant access and pick the Page you want to take bookings on.

That's it — RentABot sets up the webhook and message routing for you, and the channel turns Active. Most people never need anything beyond this.

The manual way (if you prefer to use your own app)

If you'd rather connect through your own Meta app, RentABot also accepts credentials directly:

  1. In Meta for Developers, open your app and add the Messenger product.
  2. Connect your Facebook Page and generate a Page Access Token.
  3. Copy your App Secret (App Settings → Basic) and choose a Verify Token (any secret string you make up).
  4. In RentABot's Messenger card, paste the Page Access Token, Page ID, App Secret and Verify Token, then save. RentABot shows the Webhook URL to use in Meta's Messenger configuration, and you subscribe to the messages field.

Set up your services and availability

Before clients can book, add your Booking Types (services with a duration and price), your Resources (the people or rooms a booking uses), and your working hours. New to this? The getting-started guide walks through it.

Test it like a client

Open your Facebook Page and send it a message from a different account (or ask a colleague). Walk through booking a slot — pick a time outside your working hours so you don't block a real appointment. Check that it lands in RentABot and your calendar, and that the confirmation comes back in Messenger. Then cancel the test booking.

Go live (and the 24-hour rule)

One Meta rule to know: a business can message a client freely within 24 hours of that client's last message. Outside that window, RentABot still delivers booking confirmations and reminders using Meta's approved message tags — so your clients always get them.

Now make the booking obvious: turn on the Send Message button on your Page, add it to your posts, and reply to comments with a nudge to message you. Every "are you free this week?" can now become a booking without you lifting a finger.

Ready to connect it? Start a free 14-day trial and link your Facebook Page in a couple of minutes. Want the bigger picture first? The overview guide covers all four channels.
